Anyone know why very few Scottish clubs did an programmes before WWII ?

Presumably the pre war ones are mainly just away fixtures making them very rare and sought after?

There were a fair few who did (although maybe not every game/season), off the top of my head;

Hearts (every season from 1924-25)
Hibs
Celtic
Queen of the South
St.Johnstone
Aberdeen
St.Bernards

I’m sure there’s more and someone will correct me.

I think the Scots were very good at recycling paper for the War effort, as these programmes are much rarer than their counterparts south of the border (and probably smaller print runs). The period 1945-1952 is also a hard period to fill gaps despite most clubs issuing.

I had a bid of £201 early on, I knew I wouldn't get it, it got silly in the end, a guy I know had a £920 bid on the Clyde no 4 and still missed out.
They reckon the Dundee United one is the rarest of the bunch.

Imagined the Utd issue was quite difficult...but that's some bidding going on there... Think I would be tempted to sell my copy at those prices..and mine is in better condition!

The 'Gers seem a profitable club to collect, their 1960s home European tickets were going for telephone numbers a few months back.

One lad must have made a fortune selling his stash, almost all of them were going for £600 to £800+.

Wish my hoard was worth that sort of coinage!! lol
