Ive seen a few of your sites on here and they look really good. Any website recommendations or ideas on how to get something started up?

I have a pretty basic PC knowledge so nothing too fancy!! Thumbs Up

i use WYSIWYG ( what you see is what you get ) web builder

i find it very easy to use and its doesnt cost a fortune to buy ( download ) ,

you can get freewebs , but i pay for a webhost

my website is www.tonyswebspace.co.uk , i use embedded masterpage it makes it easier to update the site .

i pay about $48 every 6 months (its a US host ) for the webhost and i think $14 every 2 years for the domain name , however i get 1 of my domain names free as part of the package , i think there are cheaper option though , i can host unlimited websites and have 700gb webspace

Buy your domain and hosting through 34SP (£10 domain and £15 ish a yr to host) and learn HTML and create a site yourself, or use a free WYSIWYG editor as mentioned.

Mine is a free one, using freewebs. Its really easy to use, the only problem being is I dont seem to be able to get it high in google's listings!

Hi rsheridan,
I use www.moonfruit.com for my website, though that is for my travels, not for football programmes (i'm away at the moment, hence not posting on here!)
Moonfruit has an option for you to use templates, which are very easy to use and look very good. After you have set the page up, you use the editor to change things, and for each thing you want to change you just click on it and replace it with what you want.. no need to know any html or anything. I'm sure there would be a template for collections. However, if you want to start a blank page you can do that too. Only problem with that is that you have a really long web address, though you can remedy this by going on to www.tk and linking your page to it to make a shorter address which will be www.youraddress.tk

I satrted one with moonfruit last night and it looked really good, however i stupidly included the official boro badge and some pics of players on the home page from websites without to thinking about any copyright issues.

So I hastily deleted it!! But I am going to write to the club to see if I can use a few pictures off the official website, if not I will just use my own.

I've just had a go on Moonfruit and found it way too advanced for my limited design skills.
All i want is an album for each season and to be able upload images for each programme into that album.
Can't work out how to do that though.

Yeah the problem is with moonfruit is that each season album you have to add a page, and the maximum you can have for a free subscription is 15 pages, I might pay the £2 a month to have unlimited pages though

I use freewebs which also has a page limit but I have found that if you create a photo-gallery you can add loads of photos. All you need to do for each season of programmes is create a new album which is really simple and then add as many photo's as you want.

It depends on how many people have viewed your site . The more people who visit your the higher up in the listings it will. For me my website is in the top ten for some searches relatively high for others. You just need to add your site to google by following these instructions > http://www.google.com/addurl/

Made a good start on moonfruit only to discover that there is a 20mb allowance or if I pay a 50mb allowance. Each of my pics is 1-2mb Shocked

Your pics really shouldnt be 1-2mb mate. They should be saved as jpegs (compression of about 9 if you can choose this) and also no more than 500 pixels in any direction really as otherwise it just wont fit on the screen in one view. This should make the image about 100kb so 20mb should be enough for about 200 pics.

With regards to pictures i use Flickr and link it to my page.. this might be an idea for you aswell oldbolt, if all you want it for is photos in albums. There is a 200 photo limit on Flickr before you have to pay, however i just set up a few different account and link them!
