And a sad reflection on the money grabbing fan squashing modern game my restricted view seat. Yes I was aware it was restricted but a £38 ticket and I assume a measly saving off £2 for the inconvenience of seeing bugger all in the goal mouth.

39 years ago. (Is that Roger Hynd on the right? John Roberts in the middle?)

Me, aged 13, having made the decision to try and get all Derby's programmes from that season, wrote an adolescently polite letter to the Club Secretary at St.Andrews with my 50p postal order.

Back came the programme - along with a very nice letter saying "how pleased they were to hear from a Blues fan from so far away and would I like to join the Supporters Club?"

I remember being in a bit of a quandary as to what to do, worried that they'd got the wrong end of the stick! I threw the letter away in the end. Out of sight, out of mind.

Wish I hadn't done now - letter would be worth more than the programme Smile

Was the kick-off time of 5.45pm unusual for the time or not?

Must be because there were no floodlights at Ninan Park in season 59/60.

Research says that they had been used for the first time in the opening league game of 60/61 season against Sheffield Wednesday and that a friendly against Grasshoppers Zurich played on the 5th October 1960 marked the official opening of the lights.

Thanks for the info - there are certainly no floodlights in the photo on the front cover.

Well, 30 years ago to the minute I certainly know where I was - at Ashton Gate caged in along with the rather sparse away following (100 at most) on a very, very foggy Tuesday night.

Game finished in a 1-1 draw in front of just 7,750.
Bobby Davison on target for Derby allegedly. Too foggy to see anything so I'll take their word for it.

30 years ago - that's frightening, it really is. Where did the years go?

This one was in the very first "bargain bundle" I got from Steve Earl in late 1973.
Probably the very first Derby away issue I ever owned.
