Great work gents, thanks. Some fine non-league team names in here... Graham Street Prims, Tytherington Rocks, Brimscombe & Thrupp, Borrowash Victoria, Loughborough Dynamo

Great to see the really old programmes, but it also shows the joy of cheap, modern 'tat'. I particularly enjoyed the apocalyptic scene on Bilston Town's programme cover, Tytherington Rocks fantastic crest with falling rocks, the fact that Fareham feel the need to specify that the programmes are '£1.00 EACH' (did someone think it was a quid for the entire box?). I say cheap modern tat but £3 a programme at Tytherington Shocked

29th August 1951

Crystal Palace 0 Plymouth Argyle 1

Back on 18th August I showed the programme for Palace's previous home game, v Exeter. As you will see, today's issue is blue and the previous one was claret.

Palace seemed to alternate in that season, and also in 1952/3, between blue & claret front covers. I have complete seasons and they seem a roughly equal split. What I've never been able to work out, as I have only ever had one programme for each game, is if all the programmes for each game were of the same colour - for instance, were all the above Plymouth programmes blue? And were all the Exeter claret?

Can anyone enlighten me, please?

Having checked with a few friends who have programmes from 1950's, it seems that the covers did alternate between claret and blue during the seasons mentioned as their programmes are the same colour covers as yours.

There were some Palace home and away programmes in the 1960's - 1980's which had different covers for the same match.

Hope this is of some help to you

And they say "The Ram" was difficult to store!

I didn't think the Baggies had dispensed with stripes on their sleeves until well into the 1970s. Ah well, there you go.

Long trip from Aberdeen to Halifax for a Tuesday night match - but I managed (not without a hitch or two).

"Tea, no sugar" I said to the girl at the kiosk in the ground.

She must have put about 6 heaped spoonfuls in. Still, the pie was fine.
