23rd Aug 1965

A 4-1 defeat for Pompey (still better than the previous season when the blues lost 6-1)

A compact 16 page issue in blue & white, price 4p.

A young wing half called Howard Kendall played........

I wonder what sort of career he will have ????

In the eye of the beholder, I know, but I really like the Newcastle cover design for this particular season.
Very resonant of the early 60s..

Opening game of the season - 35,269 see a 3-1 win for the home team.
John McCann on target for Derby.

35 years ago today.
Our family holiday in London just happened to coincide with Derby's visit to Loftus Road for a League Cup tie.
Having dragged everyone along to the game, not only did it turn out to be a rather drab 0-0 draw but my ticket was the only one of the four the turnstile operator held on to.
I don't think my mother saw any of the match - she got talking to a London lady she was sat next to and they were swapping cooking recipes and family stories throughout the 90 minutes.

"Don't know what you see in the team" said my Dad.

"Which one is Derby" said my little sister.

35 years ago - hard to believe, is that...

67 years ago. August 28th 1948.

Got a feeling we may have had this one a couple of years ago, still, a fascinating cover, a bit 'Wicker man' tho.

The Blades were robbed 2-1.
