22nd July 31 years ago 1984

Boxing at Bramall Lane, with Sheffield's Bomber Graham actually fighting Lindell Holmes, who came in as a late substitute.

20 years ago today 29/7/1995 - Celtic visited Birmingham City for a pre-season friendly. 40 page programme £1.50, plenty of colour but plenty of adverts.

Brum were reigning League Two champions and Auto Windscreen holders and won the game 1-0 in front of 11,381 and featured Daish, Claridge & Otto. Once saw Otto playing for Orient at Reading's Elm Park, possibly the worst single display I have ever seen live!

Scottish Cup holders Celtic featured Bonner, Collins, Van Hooooiiiijjjdonk, Charlie Nicholas & Tony Mowbray. The game is remembered for Mowbray smiling in the 65th minute Sad

July 25th: 1 year ago 2014

Grimsby Town v Mansfield Town

Sat on the Pontoon stand, in the evening sunshine for this one. Couldn't say it was a classic tho, can't even remember the score Homer

Nice looking cover, a typical flimsy pre-season effort.

26th July: 27 years 1988.

Skegness Town 1-8 Sheffield United

Another trip to the jewel of the East Coast 'SkegVegas'

The programme from the 87 and 88 friendlies both have the same cover but different content.

And finally, to fill in the gaps: July 27th 16 years ago, a trip to one of my favourite cities.

York City v Sheffield United

Good to see Angela getting a game Laughing

United won 3-0 with Paul Devlin getting all three.

2012 Olympics again, and the second day of cycling on Surrey's Box Hill - Sunday 29th July. A friend got some tickets for the very steep Dormouse Drive bit so we went there and watched as the ladies did 2 circuits of this loop. And I have a ticket to prove it this time, although my name is not Anthea Winterton! (She got the tickets). I stood camera in hand and snapped away as the leaders fought their way up the slope. A second fantastic day.

Lizzie Armistead, who won silver, is furthest to the left in white helmet and dark blue kit

I'm the one in the middle

This day in 1975 and a pre-season friendly in Rotterdam for the league champion Rams.
No messing about with two different line-ups for each half - a full strength team held to a 0-0 draw by Feyenoord in front of, according to my records, a crowd of 48,000.
