This whole inflatable thing started when one of our (Grimsby) supporters was put in a headlock by a Forest green Rovers steward for having an inflatable beach ball.

The travelling 'Mariners' created a number of awayday themes after that and Barnet was an inflatable invasion.

I think being hit with a blown up shark and then arrested was absolutely a pathetic decision in the first place. For it to go to court and the lad get convicted is ludicrous.

So......will they now outlaw the production of inflatable hammers, especially the ones that make a sound upon contact.

This law in this country has gone mad Sad

No need to carp on about it. I agree it's a crab decision, but he'll maybe make a few squid by getting his dory printed in the papers

The law has been the same for hundreds of years.
Assault.
Two main elements must be present to file a case
1.The act was intended to cause apprehension of harmful or offensive contact.
2. The act indeed caused apprehension in the victim that harmful or offensive contact would occur.
That is what the guy was charged with, not Battery which is actual physical contact . The two are different.

Personally its not just the law, it's the Police Officer who saw fit to arrest him in the first place.

Absolutely no common sense applied and to be honest, it illustrates the different policing involved when it comes to football fans versus anyone else, for example would this over zealous piece of policing happened at a rugby match? or even a music festival? I have my doubts.

By all accounts...the steward on the receiving end of the inflatable shark also does the doors on various pubs/clubs around London.

I am sure he has had to put up with sh I t loads of stuff from all walks of life whilst working those doors.. and knows it goes with the territory.

But being inflatable shark slapped is obviously far worse than being threatened with guns, knives, bottles, etc etc.

No doubt Timmy Mallet will soon be arrested for historical assaults in the very near future. Nod
