very good thread indeed Wullie!

Many years ago i asked my Father when he first went to see United and it was in the 1920's, i asked him why he chose United and not City as they were the better side and he told me that he would cycle to Hyde Road but the walls were too high and had glass bottles on the top to keep out kids like me but at United he and all his pals knew where there was a wonky bit of fencing at the Stretford end and they got in for nowt!-had he been able to gain access when he was 5 or 6 to City then it would have perhaps been manchestercityman1 perhaps Laughing

Ha ha just can't see you being a blue you would have only started supporting us 4 years ago ? Until then we had no (Sky TV) history apparently . Wink

what about the 26 years we never won the league then? but it took shake yer money to make it happen as it took Chelsea no time either once the money was thrown at it so without the oil brass you would be competing with FC United in 4 years time! Laughing
also investing in MU is a smarter move than than in blue-no real interest, no long term value as u have already worked out! haha so I guess ur correct in your original comment! Did you contact Roy?

9/1/1971 my Dad took me to my first ever game - West Bromwich Albion 0 Nottingham Forest 1 at The Hawthorns.

My only real memory of the day other than walking to the ground is Peter 'Tank' Hindley hoofing the ball up field from close to the corner flag and being amazed at how far he had kicked the ball, legs like tree trunks!

My programme from the game is in storage so I have pinched the image from eBay.

A few more here from a similar thread a while ago....

Swindon v Fulham 18th September 1971 - Town won 4-0.
Remember walking outside the ground and turning the corner to be greeted by the ATV outside broadcast vans outside the south stand. I was 8 at the time and could not wait to watch the highlights the following day on Star Soccer.
