Hi, any chance you could scan the cover please? I haven't seen it (unless it's on one of the famous Flickr pages which I haven't had time to browse).
Cheers!

Here are a couple of New Brighton homes. My oldest is 12 September 1923 volume 1 issue 6 v Durham City in the League. The next is vol 1 issue 8 played a week later v Southport. The second one has the familiar clipped corner

Earlier on I referred to a "Programicard" issued by my club, Crystal Palace for the Southern League match against Southampton on 26th January 1907. As far as I know this is the earliest known issue by my club (but I stand to be corrected).

It's a concertina, folded affair measuring about 8x5" when folded (from memory - I have only a photocopy and it's a decade since I saw the original which a mate owns). So though I don't own this Programicard I have at least touched it and scanned it!

It was Palace's first home match after the historic FA Cup 1st round tie at Cup holders Newcastle which Southern League Palace won 1-0 with a goal by skipper, Innerd. The programme goes on at length about the day and the journeys there and back which as you might imagine in January 1907, weren't straightforward matters.

It's printed on 4 sides of the programme and I have copied them here for you to read as I'm sure you'll find it fascinating.

Finally I'll end with the finest piece of memorabilia I am privileged to own - it's a one-off folding card hand-made by a suffering Newcastle fan on the day of the then greatest cup shock of all time.

Thanks to Treble for sharing his Man Utd v CPFC collection.

.

Pete, there was a programmicard issued for CP v Southampton Reserves (our 1st ever league game in 1905) 2/9/1905

See page 87 of Nigel Sands book 'The A-Z'

Oldest home I have is 22/10/1921 v Blackpool, so very similar to your oldest.

I do have the programme for the Crystal Palace itself on 29/9/1906 - basically a programme for everything in the grounds that day (it was a giant Victorian Exhibition grounds and sort of amusement park as you and many other probably know), including a listing for the Southern League game v West Ham, although it does mention a separate entrance fee is payable (sixpence) and a separate card (programme) can be bought for 1d, so not strictly a dedicated football item.

This is the oldest Portsmouth first team home programme that I have.
It is against Crystal Palace in the Southern League on 4th January 1913.
Pompey won 2-0.
As you can see, it is not in the greatest of condition, but I don't think I'll wait until another one comes along!

a perfect example to send this image to eamonn fitzmaurice at programme preservations to tell you what it would cost to make it look better and replace the missing pieces of paper with his usual fantastic work. www.progpres.co.uk
[email protected]
01526-321145

cost nothing to get him to quote you.

I am not on commission like the fifa boys!
Wave

when u go to his site click "examples" at the top of the page and some of his previous work pops up, the Manchester Evening Chronicle newspaper from 1939 he did that for me 20 years ago and it still hangs in front of me as I write this to you now!

My oldest is Brentford 1934-35.

I had older but had to sell, sadly, to fund a car about 15 years ago. I had a 1907-08 home v Northampton IIRC too, loved it, but sold it. Sad I also had the Clapton Orient v Brentford programme at Wembley in 1930, loved it, but sold it. Sad

The oldest known is from 1904 v Bristol Rovers, sadly not mine but a fellow Bees supporter.

Southampton v Chatham 18th March 1899 (Saints won 4-1) Inside the card merely has the players set out in standard positions - very basic card

I also have Reading v Southampton from same season (dated 14th January 1899). However, Southampton did not actually play Reading until 18th February 1899 so maybe the January match was postponed.

Thumbs Up Super stuff amazorblade. Interesting to see the note on the back of the card suggests they were produced all season.
