It's been a very long time coming but better late than never I suppose.

Unfortunately FIFA still appear to see themselves as untouchable and will apparently continue with the presidential election later this week.

It is a pity Blatter isn't one of those arrested as he promised to stamp out corruption and failed to do so.

COMNEBOL in an emergency meeting in Zurich, UEFA meeting in Warsaw to discuss requesting Presidential election postponement.

Meanwhile, Blatter welcomes arrests as the next step in the process of rooting out corruption. He also confirmed that there were no tanks in Baghdad…….

I read a book 6/7 years ago about corruption and fraud not only in world football but the Olympic games which drew a connection between Mr Blatter and the then Olympic president Jao Havelange. It was a library book and for the life in me I cannot remember author or title. It was a very thorough and far reaching indictment which named names, quoted quotes and pulled no punches in exposing many high ranking officials. It was very surprising that no one as far as I know took court action against the author/publishers, there was certainly enough "ammunition" there for some barrister or similar to encourage some sort of litigation, unless of course the persons mentioned would prefer to "let sleeping dogs lie" rather than be exposed. It really was a damning piece of evidence and I'm really gutted that I cannot remember any more details.
I hope somebody out there has more information about it. It was an excellent read then and it certainly would be now.

great read, surprised that it's take the authorities this long.

The investigation will find all sorts - Adidas, ISL (former rights dealer for the world cups) and various other national federations and sponsors will also be implicated.
Football is about to go through the mangle, and not before time.

FIFA is a busted flush and soon to be worthless and a fresh start is needed. Only problem is - who can we trust?

There is far too much money involved for any radical change to happen, the last thing any new FIFA President or members of the ExCo will do is endanger the £billions flowing in from sponsors and TV rights, National Associations know this only too well, so as long as corruption is controlled and there are no more stupid decisions such as handing Qatar the WC, things will continue in broadly the same manner.

UEFA members have just decided en-masse to back the Jordanian guy in tomorrows vote.

Still can't believe the election is going on with this hanging over them.

It should be postponed until the investigation is complete.

It probably should, but Blatter wants it done in case his support for re-election ebbs away. Maybe it already has, hopefully

1) postponing any election will just leave Blatter in place for longer

2) even if all EUFA vote for the Prince that's only 53 votes , leaving Africa and Asia in Blatters pocket with their 120 votes or so , with only needing 105 votes to win hes home and dry . . . The only way Blatter will leave is in a box, by being jailed, or being voted out. To vote him out you have to convince any Africa or Asia countries that aren't corrupt ( and there lies the big question , are there ANY ) to vote for the Prince , and the obvious answer is that hes greased the palms of too many to get defeated

3) the trouble is , with all the Fee's for That and Fee's for This . . . there's not enough CASH in the trough for all the snouts

I can only assume that he has received a massive back hander or placed a bet on himself to win the election as FIFA President last week , why on earth would he stand for election and resign 2 days later ????? . . . The cost of running ANOTHER Election will be met by The Federations Of World Football , taking yet more money out of the game .............what a joke he was , and what plebs all the nations who voted for him are. . . ( THAT INCLUDES FRANCE AND SPAIN in Europe TO NAME BUT TWO )
