Many Clubs have been visiting the USA and Canada since the War, this is a thread to show memorabilia from any club's tours but no programmes.
Tickets, Photos, Menu's, Newspapers, Trophies, Flyers, Itineraries anything...

I have long had an interest in my team travelling there since 1950, you can see 175 images that I have uploaded to date[more to follow soon]

https://flic.kr/s/aHsjetigkM just 1950-1980's only in this link, to see the more recent trips to North America then it is www.flickr.com/photos/manchesterunitedman1/sets as there are 2 different locations for the modern items.

Let me start it off[in no particular order] only for memorabilia

Sorry, it's the only place I have uploaded the images. The link I posted can be viewed by the public - you do not need to have a Facebook account to view.

Remove the spurious "[/url]" from the end of the link and it should work.

Thanks, original post edited.

All things Detroit Cougars (1967) on my wants list, even spares.

For anyone interested in that first year of professional soccer in the United States, I took a pilgrimage to Detroit a few years ago in search of the Cougars. I wrote about what I found here: http://nornironman.blogspot.com/2011/04/in-search-of-detroit-cougars-long.html

Fantastic reading SMH, top stuff, love these personal quests which are - IMO - so interesting to read.

I've read a couple of books on the NASL and its beginnings although they only touched on the Cougars.

Blackpool never played a full tour of the USA or Canada, opting instead for tours of Australia, the Far East and Africa.

However en route to the Australian tour in 1958, they stopped off in Los Angeles and played an exhibition game against a Los Angeles All Star X1.

The match, which Blackpool won 13-2, was played on 29th April at Sentinel Field, Inglewood.

Billy Perry notched 5 that evening and there was a hatrick from Ray Charnley.

Stanley Matthews played, and although he didn't get on the score sheet, he supplied the crosses for a lot of the goals.

I have never seen a programme for this game, and it is likely there was nothing issued, but if anyone has ever come across one, or even better actually owns one, I would love to know.

since I moved to the States back in 2004 I have seen quite a few teams on tour over here and try to pick up everything I can memorabilia wise (programmes, pins, flyers, tickets etc). I will see what I can dig out!

For my own team (Crewe) I don't think that there has ever been a USA/Canada tour - the closest thing being ou kids (u16, u14) being involved in the annual Dallas Cup.

this is one i have to apologise for but it was worth trying to scan just in case anybody wanted to upload it

I will describe it

It is a plate which was was for the Final of the Lewis Cup played between Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur in the Yankee Stadium on 15/6/1952
Those details are engraved on to the plate
Also engraved are the signatures of the Manchester United team
And finally the sponsor who was Harry M Stevens Inc,320 Fifth Avenue,New York

Research has indicated that Harry M Stevens was responsible for peanut vendors ar sports events in America
He also introduced numbers on players kits to help identify them
There have probably been two items made for this game
One with the Spurs autos and one with United autos
Although there were two i believe it is fair to say that there are actually just one, twice

I believe this is unique

Photos, tickets, menus and itineraries can be viewed by following this link
Feel free to take scans.
Recent prices achieved at auction indicate a flourishing market for the rarer tour programmes
If anybody perchance does have any of the rare tour items feel free to contact me for an indication of value as i am always looking for improvers and knacker tweakers

You took your time! haha

Harry M Stevens also published the match programme as well-as they say these days "He owned the Event"

i think tweaking your knackers is best left to Mrs. Treble Laughing
