well for some reason this auction did not even get a mention,as far as i can see,on here
I can't believe that the non collecting collectors who just like to chat have missed it completely
So which items do you want to chat about
I personally only kept tabs on the Manchester United items, for obvious reasons
The highlight was a Middlesbrough v Manchester United from 1951/52 which changed hands for a mouth watering £920 plus commission
Somebody has therefore paid out £1100
I don't know who the seller was but he will be drunk as a skunk tonight methinks
This programme is noted in my records as selling for £380 plus commission at Phillips in 2000
It sold again at this price at Sportingold in September 2009
and now this massive jump
The arsewiped and ruthed Manchester United Youth v Bradford Park Avenue Youth from 1953/54 made £380 which is the last traded price for a good copy of this
Most other prices were where i expected them |

I was dippiing in and out watching the auction on the internet and just happened to look in when the Middlesbrough/United programme sold.
I think the next Middlesbrough home from the following season (can't just remember who the opponents were) went for peanuts in comparison.
I was happy to get the one Blackpool item I was after. |

Bid on several items, only won two. Was the under bidder on some badges and missed out on some Man Utd and Man City tickets but I only wanted one from each for myself, so not too bothered. |

I was in for that boro v united 1951. I expected some competition round the £3-400 mark but what happened was certainly a shock.
I bowed out at £600, and to be honest would probably have suffered a little buyers remorse if I had got it at that price.
Still it puts the value up for the other stuff we`ve all got. Personally I`m all in favour of rampant inflation in football programmes. |

Is it any wonder that Boro v Man Utd programmes feature predominantly in my wants lists from 46/7 to 53/4? I would imagine that the 51/2 programme sold today reflects that it was from Man Utds championship season.
Have you any historical ‘sale’ records for this one Treble?

need you ask???
sold at Phillips in April 2000 for £325
It was late on in the auction and money was drying up
My notes say i felt this was cheap
however
Sportingold sold it in April 2008 for £260 plus commission
I don't have any other notes of it appearing so in the current market place i suspect both those prices will be way out now
If i had one to sell,which i haven't got a spare i think i would be looking roughly between £500 and £1000.
If it was cash i would be near the top end but if somebody had something i wanted i would be more relaxed at around £500
Hope that helps

Thanks for that info. I was wondering where it approximately sat against the post 45/6 issues and now I know |

do you have the programme? |
Yep, I have the programme which is 'uncut' so in effect the 8 programme is just one sheet.
My knackers have definitely been tweaked by those pre first world war issues on your fine site and many thanks for your offer re the scans:) |
